VW T3 & T25 Chassis Codes

The T3 or Type 25 was produced from May 1979 to July 1992.

The Chassis number on the T3 or Type 25 is located in a few locations:

• On the Vin plate riveted to the A post
• On the rear face of the Off Side Front Chassis Outrigger
• On the chassis sticker either above the pedals
• On your V5

So you’ve located your chassis number but what do all the numbers and letters mean and which one identifies the year of manufacture?

Here’s an example of the numbers/letters from left to right:

2. V = Manufacturer
3. 2 = Vehicle Body Type
4. Z = Filler Digit
5. Z = Filler Digit
6. Z = Filler Digit
7. 2 = Vehicle Type

9. Z = Filler Digit
10. E = Year of Manufacture (in this example: 1984)
11. H = Factory produced
12. 0 = VIN Digit Chassis Number
13. 0 = VIN Digit Chassis Number
14. 0 = VIN Digit Chassis Number
15. 0 = VIN Digit Chassis Number
