Morris Golden Film SAE20 Running In Engine Oil (5 Litre Bottle)

SAE 20 Morris Golden Film `Running In` Oil

The Morris Golden Film SAE 20 `Running In` Oil is part of a specialist range of high-quality, low detergent/dispersant monograde lubricants. These oils are specifically designed for use in naturally aspirated four-stroke petrol and diesel engines, as well as classic gearbox designs. Ideal for the initial running-in period of new or reconditioned engines, this oil ensures proper wear-in of engine components for longevity and reliability.

Applications:

Golden Film Classic Motor Oils are recommended for use in veteran, classic, and vintage cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, and tractors. These vehicles often have engine designs and tolerances that are not compatible with modern multigrade oils that have high levels of additives.

Modern dispersant additives typically keep combustion chamber contamination suspended in the lubricant, which is then removed by full flow cartridge filters. However, early oil filtration systems, usually in the form of mesh gauze or strainers, are not efficient enough to remove this suspended material. Golden Film Motor Oils are low dispersant oils, allowing suspended matter to settle harmlessly into the sump.

This oil also features enhanced anti-foam properties, which optimize performance in motorcycle and automotive classic gearbox designs.

Engine Oil Grades:

Understanding the viscosity rating of engine oil is crucial, especially for classic engines:

  • Winter Rating (W): The number before the “W” (winter) indicates the oil`s viscosity at low temperatures. A lower number means the oil is thinner and flows more quickly during cold starts, reducing wear.
  • Operating Temperature Viscosity: The second number represents the oil`s viscosity at 100°C. A higher number means thicker oil, which provides better protection against metal-on-metal wear when the engine is hot.

The Morris Golden Film SAE 20 oil is a monograde lubricant, maintaining consistent viscosity at all engine temperatures. This oil is highly recommended for running in new or reconditioned engines during the first 500 miles, after which it is advisable to switch to a 30W or 20W50 oil.

Important Note: Semi-Synthetic or Synthetic multigrade oils must not be used in air-cooled engines. Only mineral multigrade oils are suitable for these engines.

Why Choose Morris Golden Film `Running In` Oil?

  • Optimized for Classic Engines: Specifically designed for veteran, classic, and vintage engines where modern oils may not provide the necessary protection.
  • Low Dispersant Formula: Allows suspended contaminants to settle in the sump, protecting engines with early filtration systems.
  • Enhanced Anti-Foam Properties: Ensures optimal performance in classic gearboxes and engines.
