Type 4 Fanshroud Air Flaps

This pair of metal flaps are found in the lower tinware of all aircooled 1700cc, 1800cc and 2000cc Type 4 engines

They block the air from the cooling system allowing for quicker warm up.  When the engine reaches optimum temperature the flaps open allowing the cool air to flow over the engine
